LOAN WORKOUTS AND COLLECTIONS
When
assuming responsibility for a problem credit, you must
determine what avenues are open to you in resolving the
matter. Review all lien flings and update your UCC search. If
real estate is involved, obtain at least a new Letter Report,
contact County Treasurers to learn status taxes and
assessments and verify insurance coverage. Read all
appraisals. Analyze depository accounts for unusual activity
and see if large, whole-dollar deposits are being drawn. These
may be going to insiders or other banks. Check documents for
cross-collateralization and cross-defaulting and determine
what assets secure each facility. Research credit card debt.
Ordering a new D&B and Bureaus on the principals will give
additional insight to the operation. This will add to your
overview and reveal what tools you have on hand because at
this juncture loss prevention may be of paramount importance.
